Recently I
was told I had the piriformis syndrome. Is there a treatment for it?
First, this
is a vague disorder which is often diagnosed based on clinical symptoms. Most
people who develop this disorder have a long history of sitting at the desk for
prolonged hours. MRI is often done to rule out other causes. The treatment is
rather simple but needs to be continued on a regular basis. The name of the
game is to stretch your back and leg muscles. There are some excellent videos
on youtube where you can watch how to perform some of these exercises. Within
5-7 days, you will see a difference and within 14 days, you will be pain free.
Continue the exercises as long as you continue to have a seating job. Please,
you do not have to join a gym or undergo some nonsense physical therapy
exercises. The youtube videos are free, whereas the therapists will just scam
you of all your hard earned money.
