Preventing perfume induced asthma

How can one prevent asthmatic attacks due to perfumes?

Asthmatic individuals who have to work around people who wear perfumes can be difficult. The choice is either you avoid these people or take a prophylactic anti asthmatic drug. There are several anti asthmatic drugs’ which one can take to prevent the attacks. Nedocromil and sodium cromolyn have been used as prophylactic agents for many years and do work well. To prevent asthmatic attacks, these drugs can be inhaled at least 30-45 minutes prior to exposure. What the asthmatic should understand is that these drugs only act to prevent asthma. Once the asthmatic attack has started, these drugs have no impact on symptoms. If an attack of asthma comes on then the best remedy is an inhaler like albuterol or atrovent.
