Fibromyalgia has a strong genetic link and the disorder does tend to run in families. If one of your family members has this disorder, your risks of acquiring the disease are high. Several genes have been isolated which may play a role in both depression and fibromyalgia. For this reason, some women with fibromyalgia may benefit from anti-depressants.
