For lice control, you need to do two things. Treat the lice and also decontaminate your environment. The agent of choice is benzyl alcohol. You apply it for 10 mins and repeat the treatment in 7 days. The alcohol kills the lice rapidly. At the same time, you must remove all nits from the hair with a fine tooth comb. All other items like towel; bedding and clothing must be thoroughly washed. There are some people who recommend the use of mayonnaise, olive oil, vinegar and submersion in water. I am not sure if these treatments work, but you can try them out. I can sure you that applying mayonnaise onto your scalp is going to be a real messy affair.
Once you have treated your
head lice, clean up your home. This means washing everything in the home with
very hot water. Lice are durable creatures and need extremes of heat to kill
them.
