Can I get Chlamydia from a toilet seat?
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted organism and is very
finicky in its requirements for growth in the genitals. The organism is unable
to survive outside the body for more than a few minutes. The organism usually dies rapidly when
left on toilet seats or garments. It is nearly impossible to acquire Chlamydia even
by skin contact. Even if you touch the arse, vagina or penis of a chlamydia person with your fingers, it is unlikely that you will acquire the organism. To be infected with Chlamydia, the
organism has to come into contact with certain body fluids with the right pH and warmth. In medicine there
are always exception to the rule but in general it is unlikely that you can get
Chlamydia from inanimate objects.
